How We Choose

Research-based curation

Every guide on this site is research-based curation. We choose curtains for the job each window has to do — sleep, privacy, heat, the room, and the window type — not for looks alone.

What we compare

Maker specifications, published reviews, and current prices. We check the details that matter for curtains: fabric and lining, light blocking, heading, size, and care.

How picks are chosen

Picks are chosen by the job. A product is recommended because it fits the job described in the guide, not because it pays more. Our recommendations are our own, based on the research behind each guide.

Where sources disagree

Where sources disagree, the guide says so instead of picking one number and hiding the rest. Figures that could not be verified are left out.

Prices and availability

Prices change, so we never print a fixed price in a guide. Check the current price on the listing page. The price and availability shown on the Amazon listing at the time you buy are the ones that apply. Always check the listing before you order, and check the size, color, and quantity carefully.

If a product goes out of stock or its listing changes, we update the guide or change the pick.
